HCPCS Codes for Mobility Aids — A Dealer's Reference

Verified against CMS sources · Updated 2026-10-22

Every mobility aid you stock maps to a HCPCS Level II code, and that code decides whether a claim gets paid. This is the reference we hand to distributors before they build a catalogue — the codes, what they actually describe, and where the coverage lines fall.

The one distinction that matters most

Medicare treats these products very differently depending on which side of the line they sit:

  • Covered — canes (E0100, E0105), crutches (E0110–E0118), walkers (E0130–E0149), commodes (E0163, E0165, E0168) — where the patient meets the mobility or confinement criteria.
  • Not covered — raised toilet seats (E0244), bathtub seats and benches, bathtub lifts and bed baths. CMS classifies these as comfort or convenience items, not primarily medical in nature (NCD 280.1).

That split is not a footnote. It tells you which half of your catalogue is an insurance business and which half is a cash-retail business — and those two halves need entirely different sourcing and branding strategies.

Why a manufacturer publishes this

Because the coverage line changes what you should buy from whom. Reimbursed categories reward documentation: codes, load ratings, audit-proof paperwork. Cash-paid categories reward brand control: your logo, your model number, your retail price — which is exactly what our private label programme is built for, from 50 units per SKU.

Planning a reimbursable line or a cash-retail range? Request the catalog and DDP price list — quotes within 24 hours, landed cost fixed for 5–6 week DDP door delivery.
